The Nirmohi Akhara Supreme Court Ram Mandir Trust dispute has reached the Supreme Court. The Akhara has sought the reconstitution of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
It has also demanded the restoration of historical Ram Lalla idols from 1950 and 1982.
The application alleges that the Central Government failed to implement the 2019 Constitution Bench judgment in its true spirit.
Challenge To Implementation Of 2019 Judgment
The Shri Panch Ramanandi Nirmohi Akhara filed the application in the disposed Ayodhya land dispute.

The plea alleges that the Centre failed to properly implement the Supreme Court’s November 9, 2019 judgment.
According to the Akhara, the current structure operates like a private trust.
It argues that the Trust lacks adequate public accountability.
Dispute Over Trust Composition
The Akhara claims that the 2019 judgment required an appropriate management role for it.
The plea challenges the scheme framed by the Union Government on February 5, 2020.
According to the Akhara, the scheme reduced its role to one symbolic seat.
It also challenges the nomination of Mahant Dinendra Das to the Board of Trustees.
The plea says the Centre made the nomination without consulting the Akhara’s Panchayat.
The Akhara argues that this decision violated its registered rules of March 19, 1949.
It also claims that the nomination ignored the traditional Ramanandi Panchayati system.
Demand To Reconstitute Trust As Public Body
The Akhara has asked the Centre to recast the Trust’s governing scheme.
It wants the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to function as a public trust.
The plea also seeks supervisory oversight from seers of the Ramanandi Bairagi Sampradaya.
The Akhara wants such oversight to cover important trustee decisions.
It has also sought adherence to traditional Ramanandi customs.
These customs would govern daily rituals, sewa, bhog, and religious ceremonies inside the sanctum sanctorum.
Demand To Restore Historical Idols
The restoration of the original Ram Lalla idols forms a major part of the plea.
The Akhara refers to deities attached on January 5, 1950, and February 16, 1982.
It argues that the Trust lacked legal authority to replace or substitute those original deities.
Therefore, the Akhara has sought their immediate restoration.
Call For Forensic Audit
The plea also raises concerns over alleged financial mismanagement at the temple.
Recent controversies reportedly led the Uttar Pradesh Government to form a Special Investigation Team.
Authorities also arrested staff involved in counting donations.
Key officials, including General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra, reportedly resigned on July 6, 2026.
The Akhara argues that these developments indicate serious custodial concerns.
It has therefore sought a forensic audit of the Trust’s financial and property transactions.
The plea also requests an independent monitoring committee.
The committee would examine whether authorities properly implemented the Supreme Court’s 2019 directions.
Demand For Greater Accountability
The Nirmohi Akhara Supreme Court Ram Mandir Trust plea seeks major changes to the Trust’s structure and administration.
It asks the Supreme Court to ensure public accountability and traditional religious oversight.
The Akhara also wants the Court to examine the alleged failure to follow the 2019 judgment.
