Minor Attacked After Boarding an Auto in Malad West
A 54-year-old autorickshaw driver in Mumbai has been arrested for allegedly molesting a minor girl and attempting to push her out of his moving vehicle in Malad West. The girl, a college student, boarded the auto on SV Road, unaware of the danger ahead.
Driver Allegedly Harasses Minor During Ride
According to police, the driver instructed the girl to sit in the middle seat, claiming there was ongoing road construction. During the ride, he allegedly made obscene gestures and continuously watched her through the rear-view mirror. When the girl protested, he threatened her.
Girl Pushed Out of Moving Vehicle but Manages to Escape
The situation escalated when the accused allegedly pushed the minor out of the moving autorickshaw. Despite the fall, the girl managed to reach her home safely and immediately informed her family about the incident.
Family Files Complaint; Police Launch Investigation
The victim’s family accompanied her to the police station and filed a formal complaint. Police reviewed footage from over 25 CCTV cameras along the route to identify the auto’s registration number and track the suspect.
Accused Arrested Using CCTV Surveillance
Investigators traced the auto to Kandivali West, where the accused was found sleeping inside his vehicle. He was taken into custody without resistance. The prompt use of surveillance technology helped the police make a swift arrest.

Police have booked the driver under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and applicable sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case highlights the robust legal framework available to protect minors against sexual offences and endangerment.
