New Delhi, Nov 18, 2025:
The Saket District Court witnessed high tension on Tuesday morning after a bomb threat email triggered an immediate evacuation of the entire court complex. Proceedings came to an abrupt halt as security agencies cordoned off the premises and launched a thorough inspection.
“Evacuation Was Swift and Disciplined,” Says Advocate Anurag Srivastava
Advocate Anurag Srivastava, a practising lawyer at Saket Court who was present when the alert was sounded, described the situation as sudden but efficiently handled.
“The police acted within minutes. Court staff instructed everyone to move out, and despite the initial shock, the evacuation happened in a very disciplined manner. Security personnel took full control and ensured that no one panicked,” he said.
He added that the large footfall inside the court during peak hours made the situation delicate, but coordination between staff, police and advocates prevented crowding or confusion.
Lawyers Recall Concerns Among Litigants
Advocate Neetu, who was assisting clients at the time, stated that the uncertainty created anxiety among women litigants and senior citizens.
“People were tense, especially those waiting for urgent hearings. But advocates and staff guided them calmly. The priority was to move everyone out safely,” she said.
Advocate Urvya noted that several matters were mid-hearing and had to be abruptly adjourned.
“Judges immediately stopped proceedings, and everyone exited the courtrooms. The disruption was unavoidable, but safety comes first in situations like this,” she said.
Court Work Temporarily Suspended
An emergency notice was issued by the court’s Honorary Secretary, announcing a two-hour suspension of judicial work until security clearance was received. Advocates and litigants were instructed to wait outside the premises while anti-sabotage teams conducted inspections.
Security Agencies on High Alert
Multiple police teams and bomb disposal squads inspected various blocks of the Saket Court complex. By afternoon, security agencies indicated that further updates would be issued after clearance.
