Karnataka High Court Rejects Darshan’s Plea to Contest Co-Accused’s Approver Application in Renukaswamy Murder Case

Date:

The Darshan Approver Plea Rejected decision came from the Karnataka High Court on August 13. Justice M Nagaprasanna dismissed actor Darshan’s petition in the Renukaswamy murder case.

High Court Dismisses Darshan’s Petition

Darshan, listed as Accused No. 2, challenged the trial court’s decision.

The trial court had refused to accept his objections against a co-accused’s application to become an approver.

Darshan approached the High Court after the trial court denied him an opportunity to oppose the application.

Court Examines Right to Be Heard

Justice M Nagaprasanna considered whether a co-accused can object to another accused seeking approver status.

The Court held that a co-accused has no right of audience at this stage.

Therefore, Darshan could not insist on being heard while the trial court considered the co-accused’s request.

Trial Court’s Decision Upheld

The High Court found no reason to interfere with the trial court’s approach.

The trial court had declined to entertain Darshan’s objections at that stage of the proceedings.

Justice Nagaprasanna upheld that decision and dismissed Darshan’s petition.

Approver Application Remains With Trial Court

The ruling does not decide whether the co-accused should ultimately receive approver status.

Instead, the Court addressed whether Darshan could participate in the proceedings at this stage.

The High Court held that the trial court can consider the approver application without hearing the co-accused.

Decision in Renukaswamy Murder Case

The Renukaswamy murder case involves Kannada actor Darshan and several other accused.

The latest ruling concerns a procedural issue linked to a co-accused’s request to become an approver.

The Darshan Approver Plea Rejected ruling confirms that a co-accused cannot claim a right of audience when the trial court considers such an application.

The High Court has therefore allowed the trial court to proceed with its consideration of the approver application in accordance with law.
